Welcome

NEW BOOK! My latest novel, FRIENDSHIP BREAD (written as Darien Gee), is now available at Amazon, B&N and your local independent bookseller! The Miami Herald calls it “an engrossing read,” and Ladies’ Home Journal says it’s “charming.” I hope you enjoy it!

Welcome to my website! There’s so much going on as the news continues to spread about my latest novel, FRIENDSHIP BREAD, which was published this past April under the name, Darien Gee (to learn more about this, visit my FAQs). Foreign rights have sold to Italy, Brazil, Germany, France, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Poland and Australia. If you prefer audio books to the printed word, you’re in luck: FRIENDSHIP BREAD is available as an audio title and is wonderfully read by the talented Nancy Linari.

I wrote FRIENDSHIP BREAD after my own daughter brought home a bag of Amish friendship bread starter. The truth? If she hadn’t been the one to give it to me, it might have gone straight into the trash! What a shame that would have been because soon after receiving this fateful bag of starter, Julia Evarts, my protagonist, appeared.

What else is new? I’m working on the next Avalon books, and also the last Deidre McIntosh book. When I’m not writing, you can find me in my virtual kitchen at The Friendship Bread Kitchen. If you’d like to join in the conversation, pull up a chair and swing by our Facebook sister page at www.facebook.com/fbkitchen. It’s a wonderful community of people (we’re 65,000 strong!) and I’d love for you to meet them as we chat about all things Amish friendship bread.

If you’re visiting my website for the first time, I invite you to take a look around. You’ll find recipes from my books plus a few extras, excerpts, reading guides and a whole lot more. I have all sorts of wonderful contests going on from time to time, and I love to hear from readers. Email me anytime at authormiaking {at} gmail.com.

Affectionately,
