TABLE MANNERS has a cover!

Yes, the economy is lousy, the election is looming, and the A/C in my car is intermittently conking out but none of that matters because TABLE MANNERS has a cover!
TABLE MANNERS is my next novel and the sequel to GOOD THINGS (Berkley 2007). It’s slated for publication in August 2009. It took a few tries to get the “right” cover (four, to be exact) and all I can say is that my editor and the art director at Berkley were awesome about working with me and including me in the process. At the end of the day, a publisher generally makes the final call on the cover but Berkley really considered my feedback and recommendations. All I can say is … thank you!
I love the colors and how it’s similar to the cover of GOOD THINGS, but with a fresher, more up-to-date look. There will still be some small changes to the cover so it’s not final, but it’s absolutely lovely to look at.
Now if I can only get my edits done … I finished the manuscript in the weeks following the birth of my third child (THAT was fun – not!) and my editor just got back to me with comments. The editing and re-writing of a completed manuscript is a drag for a lot of writers, and while I have no idea how I’ll get it done since I have my hands full with the kids, I actually like the process. The way I see it, I get to make what I thought was a good manuscript even better.
Like with many careers and professions, being an author has its ups and downs. But I have to say that looking at the final cover for your next book is a definite “up.” I’ll be putting my fourth book on hold until I finish with the edits on TABLE MANNERS and my editor signs off. Wish me luck!

Hi Mia
I really loved Good Things and I’m glad to hear that you are writing a sequel.
I thought I would share a website I discovered through an article I read while I was in Maine last August – http://www.soulemama.com/
I hope things are going good for you on the Big Island.
Sincerely,
Eugenia
